Meet the Artist
I’m Deborah and I’m a contemporary fine artist working in acrylics and living in Wexford, Ireland. I adore the sea, sunsets, hot air balloons and gorgeous colours.
I love a big expansive sky full of colour and the ocean always makes me feel so alive – like anything is possible. So I paint what I love and hope you find the colours and subject matter as calming and uplifting as I do.
My work is an expression of how different colours can uplift our emotions and help our homes feel like more joyful and calm places. There are lots of subtle messages in my pieces but the most striking one is to have fun and enjoy the everyday moments.
After a 20 year career in Business, Media and Technology, I recently realised my dream and became a full time artist. I spent a long time working in business which I loved but wasn’t expressing myself creatively, so in 2016 I started painting just for fun and soon realised this is where my passion lay. I’m self taught (though I did do Art in School) and I have my own unique style of abstract impressionism with a penchant for bold uplifting colours, broad brush strokes and intuitive palette knife work.
I lived in South Dublin by the sea for the last 22 years and in 2022 moved home to my native Wexford with my partner and daughter where I love nothing more than a trip to one of our many spectacular beaches. My work is heavily influenced by the sea, it’s movement and the ever changing light on the landscape. I love the feeling of being by the sea, and how a walk on the beach or better yet, a swim in the sea, can just make your troubles melt away. I try to capture that feeling in my paintings and transport people to a place where they can be at peace and uplifted, even just for a moment.
My paintings can be viewed and purchased in person in the following galleries:
